How many times have you heard from others or said to yourself I can't meditate. It is easy to make up that story, but that story is doing a disservice to yourself.
Buddhists coined the phrase "Monkey Mind" it is because we all have it. It would be nearly impossible to stop those thoughts from monkeying around in our minds. We can give our minds something more to do, something that brings us closer to our inner being where silence lives. That is where we get to know ourselves. Meditation can calm the Monkey and with some practice build up our minds into what we call awareness, or mindfulness, or presence.
You have to begin somewhere; the important thing is that you give it a chance. It has the power to change your life. The thing to remember is that we as human beings don't have timelines for things like that. It is as individual as our personalities. For some, meditation can reach that inner part of them quickly, for others it could take longer. That does not make it a reason not to forge ahead. Because once we arrive at that place believe me there is no turning back.
In today's world we are inundated with technology. It has taken away human connection. We have lost ourselves and become enslaved by thoughts that aren't even our own. We lose our balance as human beings and forget who we really are deep inside. Meditation can restore our inner being. It can help us to become more aware of the world around us and ourselves. We get so busy we forget to enjoy nature and all it can do for us. Nature reminds us of the possibilities. Even a weed can produce flowers, this is one of the things that can pass us by in this fast-paced world.
We need more relaxation; more focus on our lives in the present moment. Looking beyond what we see externally and dive into the internal self which with enough practice can help to guide us through life. It can teach us to look inward for the answers that are there for us to notice. To feel in our gut the right decision to make. It can also reduce our stress response and help us to sleep better.
Hopefully this has given you just a glimpse of what Meditation is. Why not just give peace a chance. Give yourself time to practice self-love and care, tune into yourself and beyond.
